I'm New, Now What?

Instructions for First Time Visitors

If you are new to the website

You can read this page . . . or not. There are instructions here on how to set up a password, make a profile and how to use the website.

You will need to make your individual profile in order to access the password-protected pages on this site. To make your own page, click on "North Redskins" at the upper tool bar.

Once there, find your name and click on it. Follow the prompts to create your profile. You must enter a valid email address. Your email address will be your user name. Enter a password, then click "remember me" so that you don't have to enter the information each time you visit the site. Note: Couples who share an email can use the same email address, they will just need different passwords.

Once you create a profile, you will also be able to see the profiles of your fellow classmates, take part in interactive forums, email other classmates through the website, respond to surveys, etc.

You have the option of password-protecting your personal profile. This blocks the general public and search engines from accessing your profile details. We recommend that you use this option. On the "Edit Profile" page, it is called "Profile Visibility" and is in the checkboxes at the bottom of the page.

All contact information that you enter into this website is kept confidential. It will not be shared or distributed. Your address and phone number can not be seen by other classmates. When someone clicks on your name all they will see of your contact information is your city and state and whatever personal information you choose to put into your profile. If they want to send a message to you, they do NOT see your email address. Class Creator -- the system through which our site is set up, keeps things private, unless YOU wish to share your information.

In order to ensure you receive important messages from our class web site, as well as messages sent directly to you from other Classmates, it's important you whitelist the email address noreply@classcreator.net (that's a .net, not a .com). Whitelisting simply means you are telling your email program to accept all emails coming from our class website and our Classmates. The technique for whitelisting varies by email program, but generally you will see the term "Whitelist", "Safe List", or "Safe Sender's List". This is where you want to be sure you have added the email address noreply@classcreator.net. Class Creator, the system that helps us operate our class web site, uses the address noreply@classcreator.net when sending out email messages. Be assured that all emails sent through our site are valid — you will not receive spam email. Whitelisting noreply@classcreator.net is the single most important thing you can do to ensure you don't miss anything happening on our site or miss receiving emails from your fellow Classmates.  Please note the Class Creator system does not  send spam mail of any kind to classmates. When we email you directly, we will only send messages we think are important to the business of running our class website

COMMUNICATING WITH CLASSMATES

To contact a fellow classmate, you may simply use the e-mail option at the bottom of each Classmate's Profile page. This feature will allow open communication between Classmates, while protecting your personal information.  If you wish to share your e-mail address or other personal information within a message written on our site, the site will not block you from doing so.  (you may have encounted this problem if you have tried to use Classmates.com)

ADDING PICTURES TO YOUR PROFILE

Your high school yearbook picture has been already been added for you.  If you find it is not correct, or you would prefer another picture, please contact us. Adding current pictures is not a requirement to participate on the site, but it certainly is a nice way to get to know people again.  We've had reports of classmates who were routinely running into each other without knowing it, because...well....we've all changed a little in 45 years!

TO ADD PICTURES

  • On the homepage, locate the links on the left side under "MEMBER FUNCTIONS".
  • Click on the link: Edit/Upload Photos.
  • The Photo page will appear and you’ll see a gray box titled: Upload New photo. Click on this box
  • On the Add Photo page you will find the basic instructions for uploading your photos. There are 3 places on this page to make entries.
  • Sort: The sort number controls the order in which photos display on your page. By default your pictures will appear in the order you entered them, so this isn’t important for your first picture. But later if you want picture #5 to appear as #1, you will have to change the sort numbers on your pictures.
  • Caption: Caption is the description you write for your picture.
  • Browse: Use this to find the picture on your computer. Clicking "browse" will open a window where you will be able to see a list of the folders on your computer. Locate the folder that holds your picture. For most classmates this will be the My Pictures folder located in the My Documents folder.
  • Select the picture you want to upload by clicking on it once, and then click Open at the bottom of the box.
  • Now you will be taken back to the Add Photo page and in the Upload Photo box you will see the path to your picture.
  • Enter the Caption for your picture in the box.
  • Click the SAVE CHANGES button.
  • To see your picture, go to your Profile page and look for your picture and caption.

MANAGING MUSIC
If you'd like to hear music of our "day," click on the Our Music link to the left.

To switch to a new song, just click on it. To rearrange the songs, click on the "shuffle" button in the upper right hand corner.

There is no way to turn off the music in the "In Memory" section other than turning off the volume on your computer.

If you are having trouble with music anywhere on the site, please
contact us.

If there is a specific song you would like to hear on the player, we'll do our best to add it for you. The site that provides our player doesn't have all songs; notably, many Beatle's songs seem to be missing. Just send the name of the song, and the artist you'd like to hear performing it; if it's available it will be added.
