Reunion Planning Meeting - January 12, 2010
We had a great meeting this week to kick off the year of our upcoming 40th Reunion. In attendance were the following:

Our first decision was to set up a Paypal account on our website so it will be easier to make a donation to our Reunion Account fund for use in maintaining this website, to build up our reserves, to offset some of the costs of our Reunions, etc. To date, since we started this website in November of 09, we have received contributions from 21 of our classmates, which is great, but we could always use more. The Paypal account will make it easy to make a donation and all of the donors will be duly recognized for their generous gift to our class.
When we announce the final plans for the Reunion, and have a budget in place, which should be after our March or possibly our May meeting, we will also have a method where you can pay for the Reunion online, with either a credit or debit card.
We will also have a link on the website to a Hotel here in Wichita, with a block of rooms reserved for our out-of-town attendees, with a discounted rate for their benefit. Steve Funk is in charge of making this happen.
There will be a Golf Tournament on Friday, September 24th, the first day of the Reunion Weekend. The location and cost will be forthcoming. If you are interested, there will be a sign-up register on our website along with the Reunion sign-up. I will coordinate that event.
Shelly Branda-Moore is in charge of our Friday night event. She and Steve Miller are looking for the perfect location for our Friday night get-together. It will likely be at one of our local pubs and the cost will be FREE, except for what you drink and eat. This will be a great time to renew friendships and it will be open to members from other classes close to ours, if they want to come out and join us.
Our Saturday night affair, the 25th of Sept., will be at the new Visitors and Museum Building at Cowtown. Our dinner will most likely be barbecue, with a cash bar. We will have a DJ or band and the rumor is that "Heavy" will reunite for the first time in 40years. Kim Richardson-Santellan is in charge of this event and Kathy Viney-Baldwin and Lynda Green-Gilmore will be in charge of ticketing, Roxanne Reiz-Smith, Martha Young-Butler and Linda Guerra-Powell will decorate up the Hall. Steve Miller is looking into the possibility of having a memorabilia table. There will be a video presentation, currently being put together by Joey Wolf that will chronicle our years in school, scenes of Wichita, events that shaped the decade and great music. We will also plan other fun activities and games, yet to be decided.
We have, as of yesterday, 141 registered on this great site, and 94 of them are coming to the Reunion, many for the first time. We anticipate a large turnout and a great weekend. Our next meeting is March 10th and I will share with you the discussion from that meeting and all future meetings as we count down to the BIG 40TH.
