I just visited Wichita in November and loved seeing our high school so well kept. It looks beautiful. The river reminded me of one of my most embarrassing stories.

Gina Kellogg, Ron Fredrick, Larry King and I signed up for the water carnival canoe race. We practiced weekly, paying to rent a canoe at the Riverside boat house. When the time came for the preliminary trials, we took off with gusto. I thought we were capsizing because we were taking in water. I fell out of the canoe only to look up at the others staring down at me with wonder and disgust. It was not a shining moment in my history at North High. I really can't say there ever was a shining moment in my high school history.
